How long does my hair have to be for a body wax?

Hair needs to be long enough for the wax to grab and hold on tight; anything less than 1/4 inch long will not get you the results you want. Think a grain of rice.

How should I prepare for a body wax?

Be well hydrated, well rested, and well exfoliated! Sunburned or chemically treated skin will not be conducive to a positive waxing experience. You may wish to take an over-the-counter pain reliever (such as Ibuprofen) a half hour before your appointment.

How often will I have to wax?

Most people's hair growth speed results in being ready to wax every 3-4 weeks. Your hair may speed up or slow down in growth depending on many factors: Age, genetics, hormones, nutrition.. basically, if you feel you are ready, let us know! All people are different, and our bodies are constantly changing.

It's that time of the month.. can I still get waxed?

Of course! Just be sure to use an internal method (tampon, diva cup, etc.) and be aware that you may be slightly more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

I want to get waxed for a special occasion, when should I start?

It's always a good idea to wax BEFORE you leap! If you have photos planned and you want to have a first time face wax, or you want to try out a brazilian for your honeymoon, you should try it out a month or two in advance. While many people have no issues on their first wax, some may have some irritation; waxing can be a bit of a shock to your skin. Typically, the second wax tells you how your skin will handle waxing.

I've always heard that removing hair makes it grow back darker and thicker.. True or false?

Thankfully, false! Shaving gives the illusion of hair growing back darker and thicker, while in reality, cutting the hair shaft at the base removes the softened, tapered tip of the hair, leaving a blunt cut on the thickest portion of the hair shaft.
Waxing, on the other hand, removes the hair root from the follicle, which means the follicle has to create a new root, and those roots take time to thicken up to become the hair you're used to; this results in finer, softer hair regrowth, which makes waiting weeks in-between waxes a much easier task!
Nothing you do to your hair will make it grow back darker or thicker.. thank aging and hormones for that one!

What medications interfere with a quality wax?

If you have concerns about any medications you are currently taking, please ask your doctor, as we are not medical professionals. That said, there are a couple of medications that make your skin unsuitable for waxing.

You must discontinue use of Accutane for a full year before it will be safe to wax you.

If you are a regular user of Tretinoin (Retin-A), then you should wait at least a month before waxing.
